Sad News:Phil Hay reveals 49ers Private Discussion as a terrible decision could be made soon

Leeds United still have the opportunity to secure promotion to the top tier through the playoffs, but they may need to accept the possibility of remaining in the Championship for another season or longer.

The club’s owners, 49ers Enterprise, the venture capital arm of the NFL’s San Francisco 49ers, are undoubtedly eager

for promotion. However, they have not adopted a “promotion or bust” mentality in their first year of ownership.

According to Phil Hay’s analysis in The Athletic, the 49ers have shown a pragmatic approach, recognizing the potential for a longer-term strategy. It

has been suggested in private discussions that the American owners are prepared to maintain control of the club for a decade or more.

Nevertheless, failing to secure promotion would necessitate some difficult decisions for the club’s leadership.

Despite initially performing well in the second half of the season, Leeds United

faltered under pressure towards the end, securing only eight points in their final eight matches.

Their upcoming challenge involves facing Norwich City in a two-legged tie in the semi-final, with the winner

progressing to face either Southampton or West Brom at Wembley. It’s a demanding journey ahead.

The optimism among the fan base has dwindled, leaving Leeds to somehow muster the confidence needed to see the job through.

The 49ers, as owners, are unable to make any transfer plans or establish a long-term strategy until the next 11 days pass.

While the club has managed to stay within profitability and sustainability (PSR) limits financially, prolonged stay in the current division could alter this scenario.
