Unbelievable:After Cheat Claim and series Complaints Premier League have made a shocking decision on Newcastle United Vs Brighton Officials

The Premier League has announced the match officials for the upcoming clash between Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion, scheduled for this afternoon with a kick-off time of 3pm.

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle side will host the Seagulls at St James’ Park, marking

their final home fixture of the 2023-24 season. Drawing inspiration from last year’s 4-1 victory, the Magpies aim to

secure another three points that could propel them closer to European qualification.

Darren England will be in charge of officiating the match. The 38-year-old has

overseen only one game involving Newcastle this season, which ended in their 1-0 defeat against Luton Town on

December 23. Brighton, on the other hand, were last officiated by England in February 2023.

England faced criticism from Burnley manager Vincent Kompany in late March following his decision to award Chelsea a

penalty during their 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. Kompany was subsequently charged with misconduct for his improper behavior towards the

match official, including questioning the official’s integrity by referring to him as a “——- cheat”.

The former Manchester City defender accepted the charge and attended the hearing not to “justify his behavior but to apologize personally”.

England was also involved in one of the campaign’s most significant VAR errors when Luis Diaz’s goal was incorrectly

disallowed for offside during Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur in September.

The VAR team comprising England and Daniel Cook initially believed referee

Simon Hooper’s on-field decision was correct. England signaled ‘check complete’, resulting in the play restarting

with a Spurs free-kick. They realized their mistake immediately but were unable to reverse the decision under existing protocols.

PGMOL chief Howard Webb acknowledged it was a clear error by England and Cook, leading to both

officials stepping down for the final round of matches before the October international break.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp suggested the fixture should be replayed after Liverpool issued a strong statement.

“Liverpool Football Club acknowledges PGMOL’s admission of their failures last night,” the statement read. “It is clear

that the correct application of the laws of the game did not occur, resulting in sporting integrity being undermined.

“We fully accept the pressures that match officials work under, but these

pressures are supposed to be alleviated, not exacerbated, by the existence and implementation of VAR.

“It is therefore unsatisfactory that sufficient time was not afforded to allow the correct decision to be made and that there was no subsequent intervention.

“That such failings have already been categorized as ‘significant human error’

is also unacceptable. Any and all outcomes should be established only by the review and with full transparency.

“This is vital for the reliability of future decision-making as it applies to all clubs with learnings being used to make

improvements to processes in order to ensure this kind of situation cannot occur again.”

For the upcoming match, England will be assisted by Eddie Smart and Nick

Greenhalgh, with Andy Madley on VAR and Nick Hopton on assistant VAR. Leigh Doughty will serve as the fourth official.
