Sad News: Daniel Farke reveals Leeds squad injury update ahead of playoff final

Daniel Farke has provided an injury update ahead of Leeds United’s Championship play-off final against Southampton.

After missing out on automatic promotion, Sunday’s final represents Leeds’ last opportunity to secure an immediate return to the Premier League. Both Leeds and Southampton were relegated last season and finished third and fourth respectively, making this a fitting final.

Pundits are divided on the outcome, with figures like Ally McCoist and David Prutton predicting a Leeds victory on penalties, while others, including former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan, are tipping Southampton.

Leeds reached the final after a 4-0 aggregate win over Norwich City, but they were without Stuart Dallas, Pascal

Struijk, Sam Byram, and Patrick Bamford for both legs. Dallas and Struijk were long-term absentees, but Bamford’s injury has been more uncertain. Having

missed the last four games, Bamford indicated he might be fit for Sunday, depending on his return to training.

In his pre-match press conference, Farke confirmed Bamford’s unavailability,

stating: “Not available and won’t be there. Definitely misses out. Minor issues this week, but it seems every player will be available, including Byram, who

returned to team training yesterday. If he does not show any reaction he will be in the squad.”
