Sad News:2 Braves players fans want their contract to be terminated in 2024 season ..

If the saying “April showers bring May flowers” holds true, then the Atlanta Braves must have missed out on the rain. After concluding the first month of the season with a 19-9 record, the Braves have struggled in May, going 8-9. This rough patch has placed them six games behind the seemingly unstoppable Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East.

The Braves’ impressive run since 2018, which includes six straight division titles, has set high expectations among fans.

This makes their recent stretch of five losses in six games particularly disappointing. While slumps are a part of

baseball, this situation feels more severe. The team has been plagued by injuries from the start of the season, losing

catcher Sean Murphy to an oblique injury and right-hander Spencer Strider to an elbow injury for the season.

Additionally, short stints on the injured list for shortstop Ozzie Albies and now third baseman Austin Riley have hampered the Braves’ performance.

These injuries to key players have significantly impacted the team’s offense. Despite the talented roster assembled in

recent years, the remaining players have struggled to maintain their usual level of play.

Frustration is likely mounting among Braves fans regarding Ronald Acuna Jr. This year’s performance from the

reigning National League MVP has been underwhelming. In 44 games, Acuna is slashing .247/.355/.351 with an OPS of .

705, a stark contrast to last year’s numbers. His batting average is nearly 100 points lower than last season, and

his WAR has dropped to 0.3 from a career-high of 8.2. Most surprisingly, he has hit just three home runs so far.

Marcell Ozuna has never been the solution in left field. The “Big Bear” is best suited for the designated hitter role now that it’s available in both leagues. The left field position in Atlanta has remained unsettled for quite some time.

This spot has become a revolving door for the Braves. Since 2021, 16 players have occupied left field, with Eddie Rosario, now with the Washington

Nationals, playing the most games at 212. Alex Anthopoulos aimed to address this during the winter by trading with the Seattle Mariners for Jarred Kelenic.

However, even before the season began, Anthopoulos re-signed 35-year-old Adam Duvall to share the position with Kelenic.

Defensively, Kelenic has been excellent for the Braves, boasting an 89 percent success rate and ranking 17th in outs

above average for left fielders, according to Baseball Savant. Offensively, though, both he and Duvall have struggled.

Combined, they have a .225 batting average, four home runs, and 15 RBIs

with 40 hits in 192 plate appearances. While it’s unreasonable to expect high numbers from players at the bottom of

the lineup who are platooning, the Braves likely anticipated better production, particularly from Kelenic.
