The Atlanta Braves have announced that head coach Brian Snitker will be taking a four-month leave of absence due to health challenges that will prevent him from performing his duties. In his absence, Braves bench coach Walt Weiss will step in as interim head coach.

The Braves organization released a statement regarding Snitker’s leave. “We

regret to announce that Brian Snitker will be taking a four-month leave of absence to address health issues. Brian is

a valued member of our team, and we fully support him as he focuses on his health. During this period, bench coach Walt Weiss will assume the role of head coach.”

Snitker, who has been with the Braves organization for over four decades and has served as head coach since 2016, is highly respected within the team and the broader baseball community. His

leadership has been instrumental in guiding the Braves to multiple playoff appearances and a World Series championship in 2021.

In his own statement, Snitker expressed his gratitude for the support from the Braves organization and the fans.

“It is with a heavy heart that I step away from my duties as head coach to address my health issues. I am grateful for the understanding and support from the

Braves organization, my coaching staff, the players, and our incredible fans. I look forward to returning to the team as soon as I am able.”

Walt Weiss, who has been the Braves’ bench coach since 2018, brings a wealth of experience to the interim head coach role. A former Major League player and manager, Weiss is well-prepared to lead the team during Snitker’s absence.

Weiss commented on his new responsibilities, stating, “While it is unfortunate that Brian must step away

for health reasons, I am honored to step in and lead the team during his absence. Brian’s leadership has set a strong

foundation, and I will do my best to uphold the standards he has set. Our focus remains on achieving our goals this season.”

The Braves are currently in a critical phase of their season, and the transition in leadership will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike.

The team’s management has expressed confidence in Weiss’s ability to maintain stability and guide the team through this challenging period.

The baseball community will be sending their best wishes to Brian Snitker for a speedy and full recovery. His health and

well-being are paramount, and the support from the Braves organization and fans will undoubtedly provide strength during his recovery.

As the Braves move forward, they will rally together under Weiss’s leadership, aiming to continue their pursuit of success on the field while keeping Snitker in their thoughts.
