Appeal case:FA have reversed Anthony Gordon deal back to Everton as….

Sean Dyche has maintained that Everton would not have “normally” sold Anthony

Gordon to Newcastle United; rather, the Toffees were forced to make the move due to the club’s financial difficulties.

Everton is appealing a 10-point deduction for losses in 2021–22, but the

Merseysiders were previously referred to an independent commission for

alleged violations of profit and sustainability regulations in the previous season’s financial statements. The

Premier League allowed maximum losses of £105 million over a three-year period, and this week they said that

Everton and, in fact, Nottingham Forest have ‘each confirmed that they are in breach’.

Gordon’s mid-season sale to Newcastle for a possible £45 million price is

covered by Everton’s most recent accounts, which have not yet been

released. Dyche made reference to this sale while talking about the team’s most recent expense.

We’ve been here almost a year, and based on my timeline and the latest data,

I believe we’ve finished in the bottom three or four net spend spots over the previous three or four seasons, so the

club is starting to move in the right direction,” the Everton manager told reporters. “We have allowed players to

leave our contracts since I have been here. We couldn’t keep some of the ones we would have liked to.

We have put a lot of effort into bringing everything down. To ensure the money was in, we sold three young players in

the timelines we were given. Quite obviously, we wouldn’t have sold those young players otherwise.”
